Hey Curly Girls! So I am coming at you again with 5 winter natural hair tips for dry hair. During the winter the wind and harsh cold air can suck the moisture out of your hair and cause tangles. But when your indoors the AC is kicking with dry hot hair. These extreme temperature changes can cause serious damage and stress on your hair. I know scary right ? Well, no need to hibernate till spring, follow these simple tips to maintain those curls, stay moisturized, and retain length through the cold weather.
1. Watch Out for Knitted Hats and Scarves
The rough material will snag on natural curls and cause breakage. Try using a a thin silk cap in between your hair and hat. It may seem like an inconvenient step to take, but your hair will thank you! Or wear a hat with a silk lining or silk cap.

2.Protect Your Ends
When using protective styles, remember to tuck your ends away. Buns and updos are great in the winter time. Remember: If you braid or twist your hair, you must also tuck your ends away for ultimate protection. And for my naturals with shorter hair try wearing some headwraps or even silk lined hats !
3.Use an Anti-Humectant To Seal in Moisture
Try sealing in moisture with olive or jojoba oil at room temperature. Especially after washing or moisturizing your hair. No one wants their curls frozen with solidified coconut oil!

4.Don’t go Out With Wet Hair
It can freeze the tips. The strands of your hair are more vulnerable when wet, and in the cold weather the molecules in the hair can expand, which can make the hair more likely to break.

5.Wash Your Hair Less
Wash your hair less so you don’t strip away those natural oils. Over washing your hair in the winter depletes moisture and natural oils from the hair and scalp at a time when hair is at its driest. Dry hair means more friction which leads to more static which equals drier hair.
