1. Always wear a satin scarf or bonnet before sleeping at night, or for naps throughout the day. These are a staple for protecting your hair at night or preserving your hairstyle. The satin lining helps reduce friction and breakage while you are shifting around during sleep.

2. Cleanse your hair and scalp periodically, not everyday. Over-washing your hair everyday or more will dry out your hair because you are stripping the hair of its natural oils.
3. Deep condition your hair after every wash. Deep conditioning your hair helps to replace the moisture lost from everyday wear and tear. Without moisture, hair becomes dry and brittle, making it more prone to breakage.

4. Cut, trim, and shape. Trim your hair to remove thinning hair cuticles and to reduce breakage. Trimming is meant to slow breakage or even stop it for a while so that your hair has the ability to continue growing versus breaking off
5. Eat Healthier. Eating healthy food that contains biotin, protein and keratin can promote healthy hair growth.
6. Be careful around heat. I find that it is perfectly fine to straighten your hair so long as you use a good heat protectant, a protein treatment, and don’t do it frequently if you want to maintain your natural hair.
7. Detangle. It helps prevent tangling, breakage, and retain length.
8. Avoid Overstyling manipulating your hair often weakens your hair. Manipulation can come in the form of styling, combing, stretching, pressing, using chemicals, blow drying etc…
9. Drink water. Drinking at least two liters of water a day will help the strength of your hair, increasing growth.

10. Love your hair for what it is ! Your curls are unique to you, so learn to love them and cherish them for what they are.
